Article 103

Documents the driver must carry

1. When driving a motor vehicle, the driver must carry: a) a valid driver’s license in paper or digital form,

(b) the vehicle registration certificate, (c) proof of insurance, (d) proof of payment of road tax, (e) as applicable:

(ea) the special driver’s license for public passenger vehicles, (eb) the Certificate of Professional Competence, (ec) the Certificate of Professional Training for Drivers of Vehicles Transporting Dangerous Goods (ADR), and any other documents required by the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road (ADR), which was ratified by Law 1741/1987 (A’ 225), (ed) the technical inspection report, (ee) the exhaust emissions test card, (est) the tachograph operational certificate, (f) the speed limiter certificate and (g) the relevant sticker, as well as (h) any other document, certificate, or attestation required by the specific provisions depending on the vehicle category.

Cyclists and drivers of motorized bicycles aged twelve (12) and older must carry any valid form of identification while driving.

In particular, vehicles leased from car rental companies or through a finance lease carry only a copy of the registration certificate and are not required to carry proof of insurance or proof of payment of road tax.

2. A violation of paragraph 1 due to the absence of any of the above documents is classified as category E1-A.
