Lights for Bicycles and Light Personal Electric Vehicles (LPEVs)

1. Bicycles must be equipped with one (1) white or yellow front light, one (1) red light or reflective element at the rear, and at least one (1) reflector on each side. Similarly, a yellow reflector is attached to each pedal.

The following are exempt from the requirement to carry the aforementioned lights, provided they are not in use at night: bicycles with a wheel diameter not exceeding five hundred (500) millimeters, as well as racing and mountain bikes.

2. EPIOs are equipped with one (1) white or yellow front light, one (1) red light and a reflective device at the rear, and at least one (1) reflector on each side. Electric wheelchairs, scooters, and handbikes used by people with disabilities are exempt from the requirement to carry the above lights, provided they are not in use at night.

3. Violations committed by a person who puts a bicycle or electric bicyclethat is not equipped with the lights and reflectors specified above, which function in accordance with this article, are classified in category E1-A.
