Traffic lights for pedestrians

1. Pedestrians must obey the signals of the traffic lights designated for them as follows, unless traffic is being directed differently by traffic officers.

(a) a steady green light with a symbol of a person walking:

Pedestrians may cross the roadway.

(b) a steady red light with a symbol of a person standing still:

Pedestrians are prohibited from crossing the roadway.

c) a green light that flashes with a symbol of a person walking:

Pedestrians may cross the roadway, taking special care.

2. If a pedestrian is on the crosswalk when the traffic signal turns red (displaying the symbol of a standing person), the pedestrian is entitled to continue crossing to the opposite side of the street.

3. This violation is classified as Category E1-A.
